Truth Tuesday [#28]

“Lent is the time for trimming the soul and scrapping the sludge off a life turned slipshod. Lent is about taking stock of time, even religious time. Lent is about exercising the control that enables us to say no to ourselves so that when life turns hard of its own accord we have the stamina to yes to its twists and turns with faith and hope…. Lent is the time to make new efforts to be what we say we want to be.” – Joan Chittister (The Rule of Benedict: Insight for the Ages )

Truth is, the Holy season of Lent starts tomorrow, Ash Wednesday.

I am going to fast from sunrise to sunset, abstain from meat and attend mass in the evening.

Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting (for those between the ages of 18-60) and a day of abstinence from meat (for those 14+)

Lenten practices that I will be participating in:
  1. Attend Mass daily, if possible
  2. Make a good confession
  3. Abstain from meat all Fridays of Lent
  4. Attend the Stations of the Cross
