Our Little Pumpkin Gender Neutral Baby Shower

With our first pregnancy we didn’t find out the sex until our little Luna was born, and it was the best surprise ever. So, we figured we’d stick to the fun surprises with the rest of our little tribe. Little Pumpkin was the theme of our second little stars baby shower. A perfect gender neutral theme for a baby due in the Fall, like ours.

My mom and I worked together on the execution of our Little Pumpkin baby shower. She took the lead on decorations and food; while I figured out the sweets and treats. The colour scheme for our Little Pumpkin‘s baby shower was orange, turquoise and white.

Baby Shower Decorations

Little Pumpkin Banner: My mom made this beautiful banner from up-cycled fabric and burlap that she had in her craft room. The orange letters she bought from our local Dollar Tree.

Fans: My mom also made these beautiful paisley fans out of scrap paper she also found in her craft room. We hung them with fishing line.gender-neutral baby shower- little pumpkin-fall

Fall Leaves: The leaves you see on the ends of the table below are actually two set of candle holders. It’s a part of my mom’s Thanksgiving dinner decorations, and they just so happen to fit the script. So up they went, but with mini pumpkins instead of candles.

Jar of Pumpkins: Halloween was literally the following week, so there were pumpkins everywhere! An easy decoration was filling up a beautiful clear jar with pumpkin chocolate balls.

There is never a shortage of food at Latino parties even if the baby shower is for a couple of hours! We had an awesome variety of delicious appetizers to choose from. From Indian somosas, spinach dip, Chinese hot dog buns, wings, sushi, and the fruit and veggie platters.

We presented the fruits on skewers and poked them into a big bright pumpkin. Which also worked as kind of a center piece for the food table.

On our feature table, we had the sweets! From a delicious homemade pumpkin pie, to mini pumpkin and butter pecan tarts, pumpkin sugar cookies and a Little Pumpkin carrot cake.

Little Pumpkin Cake

Our delicious Gluten- Free carrot cake was made by my favourite bakery, East Village Bakery, right here in my  neighbourhood! Honestly, it’s the best carrot cake EVER, super moist and rich flavour. And just the perfect amount of icing! My mouth is watering from describing it hahaha.little-pumpkin-carrotcake-babyshower

To make our cake (and baby shower) extra sweet, we got a Little Pumpkin cake topper from local Vancouver party brand Trendi Confetti. Our cake topper was the perfect little addition to complete our Little Pumpkin theme and made our feature table POP!

Trendi Confetti cake toppers are also a great little memento of your pregnancy (or event). I was able to put my Little Pumpkin Trendi Confetti cake topper back into its original packaging and store in my littlest stars pregnancy keepsake box.little-pumpkin-cake-topper-trendi-confetti

Speaking of keepsakes, the party favours for our Little Pumpkin‘s baby shower were just that, little pumpkins! I dressed them up a little bit, by wrapping a little bit of lace around each one. Made them look cute and dainty. You can spot them in some of the photos!little-pumpkin-gender-neautral-babyshower-theme

I am so happy with how our Little Pumpkin gender neutral baby shower turned out. Special thanks go out to my mom for all of her hard work and creativity! And my main squeeze, Gabriel for documenting it for me us. This was the only photo that we took of just the two of us, and it’s blurry. Oh well, I still love it.

Anyways, if you had a baby shower, I’d love to hear what your theme was in a comment below 🙂
