It’s all smooth sailing for Drac’s Pack as they indulge in all of the fun the cruise has to offer. Until that dream vacation turns into a nightmare that is! Mavis realizes Drac has fallen for the mysterious captain of the ship, Ericka, who hides a dangerous secret that could destroy all of monster kind.

• Avocados
• Onion
• Pomegranate
• Salt
• Lemon
• Cilantro
• Garlic

Steps:

1. Chop as much (or as little) Onion finely. Then pop into said bowl.
2. Wash Cilantro, then chop, finely. Throw into bowl with onions.
3. Cut avocados in half, peel and remove seed. Put into bowl (onions and cilantro), then MASH and mix.
4. Cut Lemon, squeeze juice into bowl. I love my guac extra lemony.
5. What’s this, a note from Drac asking to keep the garlic on the side hehehe.
6. Dash of salt. MIX.
7. Cut Pomegranate and scoop the seeds into the bowl and MIX.

Serve with plantains, tortilla chips or on/in anything you like~ as you can see above, this time we served as a dip for our veggie platter lunch.

This is the perfect activity to do with your little ones, since it’s messy, fun and has a great life lesson. Plus, who doesn’t love the feeling of making someone’s day a little brighter when they least expect it?

What You’ll Need:

• Rocks with smooth flat surface
• Non-toxic acrylic paint or spray paint
• Paint brushes

How to Get Started:

Step 1: Prepare the Rocks

Paint your rocks with a bright coloured, non-toxic, acrylic paint and let dry.

We had a handful of our Ferdinand inspired Kindness Rocks that Luna decided to put out in the community garden as we headed out for the afternoon. And to her surprise, when we walked back home hours later, all of the rocks were gone. I honestly knew that they’d probably be picked up as they were just so bright and adora-BULL. Clearly, our sweet thoughts and sentiments painted on rocks and left for strangers to find, and uplift their day when they least expect it ROCKED.

Luna is super excited to paint some more rocks, and I can’t wait to write out some more sweet thoughts on them and helpe spread random acts of kindness. This is def. a project we’ll be doing often and will get more of our neighbourhood friends in on too!

Peter Rabbit, the mischievous and adventurous hero who has captivated generations of readers, now takes on the starring role of his own irreverent, contemporary comedy with attitude. In the film, Peter’s feud with Mr. McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson) escalates to greater heights than ever before as they rival for the affections of the warm-hearted animal lover who lives next door (Rose Byrne).  James Corden voices the character of Peter with playful spirit and wild charm, with Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki, and Daisy Ridley performing the voice roles of the triplets, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail.

And to celebrate the theatre release of Peter Rabbit, we’ve created an adorable rabbit potted plant DIY.

Materials Needed:

• Construction paper
• Glue
• Googley eyes
• Ribbon
• Paint
• Pom pom
• Flower pot
• Potted plant

Instructions:

Steps 1: Using construction paper, cut out bunny shaped ears.

2: Using a different colour of paper, cut out smaller bunny shaper ears. Then glue these ontop of the “big” ones.

Step 3: Glue bunny ears onto the inside of the flower pot.

4: Glue googley eyes and nose onto flower pot.

Step 5: Paint whiskers and mouth on flower pot.

6: Glue ribbon on top or bottom of flower pot.

Step 7: Glue pom pom (tail) on the back of flower pot.

On February 9th, hop to a theatre near you to watch Peter Rabbit, based on the stories of the character of the same name created by Beatrix Potter.

Anyways, I’ve really been into making Disney DIY’s this last year since it’s a great way for me to relax, show Luna that it’s fun to and “cool” to be creative. Plus, it’s a great bonding experience for the both of us. She loves it when I make things for her, especially if she can show case it in her room.

So, to celebrate the release of Rapunzel: The Series, Queen For A Day on Disney DVD, December 12th, I’m making a cute art piece to display in Luna’s room!

Synopsis: The fate or Corona hangs in the balance when Rapunzel faces the ultimate test in Queen For A Day! When the King and Queen leave town, Rapunzel is set to lead. However, when a blizzard threatens to destroy Corona, the Princess is faced with some tough decisions.

TANGLED: THE SERIES. QUEEN FOR A DAY DIY DECOR

Materials Needed:

• White construction paper
• Turquoise construction paper
• Felts (Purple, Yellow, Black).
• Paint (White, Green, Black).
• Yellow Tissue Paper.
• Glue.
• Frame.

Steps:

1. Draw Rapunzel in the middle of the white paper in pencil. Then go over it in black felt.
2. Choose a fun quote, Rapunzel loves adventures and so does my daughter. So, “New Adventures Await” was perfect! Write it out.
3. Cut out Rapunzel and the quote separatley.
4. Colour In.
5. Paste Rapunzel and quote onto turquoise paper.
6. Cut out fun shapes using white paper to add to turquoise paper.
7. Using white paint, draw some dots and lines around Rapunzel and the quote.
8. Add tiny pieces of yellow tissue paper.
9. Your peice is complete and you can frame to hang on the wall.

THE STAR, a small but brave donkey named Bo yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. On his journey, he teams up with Ruth, a lovable sheep who has lost her flock and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the Star and become accidental heroes in the greatest story ever told – the first Christmas.

One of my favourite things to do during the colder months, especially as we get closer to Christmas is drink peppermint hot chocolates. I know I can have them year round, but they just taste so much better during the Christmas holidays. Maybe it’s because I have so many sweet memories of drinking hot chocolate with my family as a child. From helping my mom make hot chocolate for us kids, to drinking one after a cold and wet soccer game, to walking down Trinity Street looking at the beautifully decorated houses, or picking one up before hopping onto the “Bright Nights” Train in Stanley Park. Hot chocolate just seems to be a part of most of my holiday memories. I guess since it’s an easy way to warm up!

Just thinking about one makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I’ve continued this hot chocolate tradition with my little ones, especially as the days get colder. Plus, it’s a simple and pretty mess-free activity to do indoors. As a special touch, I got Luna to make a little purple start out of fondant, inspired by THE STAR movie!

THE STAR Holiday Organic and Fair-Trade Hot Chocolate Recipe

Ingredients:

• Milk (You can use whichever milk)
• Hot Chocolate Mix
• Whip cream
• Chocolate Drizzle
• Purple Colour Fondant

We make our hot chocolate the quick and easy way, with our delicious Organic and Fair-Trade Cuisine Camino Cocoa mix. The recipe is on the tin, so it’s easy and straightforward. To add the holiday twist, I like to add peppermint, and can’t forget whip cream! Load that on because whip makes everything better hahaha, and some drizzzzzle. Oh yeah, we can’t forget a cute purple start made out of purple fondant, inspired by THE STAR movie.

Our original plan was to make a shoot star and place it on top of the whip cream, but you know what? Fondant is really heavy! And even though we made the fondant as thin as possible, it was still sinking in the whip, so we had to opt out and put it on the rim of the cup! With two purple streaks hehehe.

Step 1: Cut out the desired shape for the mask.

2: In a sharpie, draw the outline of the facial features of desired character.

Step 3: Colour in the facial features/mask accordingly.

4: Tie in ribbon and voila! The mask is now ready to be worn!

And we’re celebrating the release of THE EMOJI MOVIE with an easy DIY, that’s perfect for the Summer heat.

THE EMOJI MOVIE DIY: DUO HANDHELD FAN AND MASK

Materials:

1. Scissors
2. White Poster Board
3. Crayons
4. Double-sided tape
5. Popsicle Stick

Step 1: Cut two large circles out of the white poster board.

Step 2: With a pencil (or crayon, like me) lightly draw the facial expressions of your favourite emoji. I chose to do the “I’m laughing so hard, I’m crying” face since it’s my favourite emoji, and the “silly face” since it’s Luna’s favourite emoji.

Step 3: Colour in the facial expressions.

Step 4: Time for your little one to join in on the activity! With the yellow crayon, ask them to colour in the rest of the face.

Step 5: Add double-sided tape on the back of each emoji and sandwich the popsicle stick between both emojis. And voila, your duo emoji fan and mask is complete.

The first book in the Captain Underpants series came out back in 1997! I remember that one of my brothers was totally into Captain Underpants. Since he was a little bit of a rambunctious and witty kid, he revelled in the adventures (and pranks) of George Beard and Harold Hutchins.

As the oldest sibling, I was often in charge of reading stories at night. And you can bet that I read a couple of pages of the series to my brother. And thought it’d be fun to celebrate the movies release with a fun activity!

If you aren’t aware,  Mr. Krupp gains superpowers by drinking alien juices and turns into his alter-ego “Captain Underpants.” And I’m going to create my very own super power treats for my little Moon to get her own powers.

Captain Underpants inspired Superfood Strawberries

Ingredients:

• Strawberries
• Coconut flakes
• Chia seeds
• Sunflower seeds
• Forte spread

Steps:

1. After washing the strawberries, dip them into spread.
2. Sprinkle coconut, chia and sunflower seeds on top.
3. Place in fridge so that spread hardens (15-mins).
4. Enjoy these superfood treats.
