Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery

A family goal for this Summer was to do activities that we hadn’t done before. Like go for a bike ride, a hike and fruit picking. A couple weeks ago, we decided to go blueberry picking at Krause Berry Farms and Estate Winery in Langley, about an hour away from Vancouver. We had never been to Krause Berry Farms and Estate Winery, so we didn’t know what to expect. But, as soon as we drove onto the property we were in awe. Krause Berry Farms and Estate Winery is over 200 acres, growing and producing some of the Fraser Valley’s best berries and vegetables.  Owned and operated by Alf & Sandee Krause, their commitment to ethical and sustainable farming has resulted in loyal guests spreading the word and returning year after year.

Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery  isn’t just a berry farm…

It’s so much more. There is something for everyone to experience and enjoy. Below, you can find our top 10 activities to do while visiting Krause Berry Farms and Estate Winery.

U-Pick Berry Fields

This was our first time picking fruit as a family. I had experienced picking wild blackberries growing up, so I was excited to create some new memories with my little moon and gabriel. Especially since they hadn’t experienced fruit picking before. Thankfully, we were prepared with hats, sunscreen and lots of water because boy, oh boy, was it ever hot in those fields. We picked about 3.5 litres of blueberries, yumm!

Currently, the Blueberry U-Pick Berry Fields are closed for the season and their is a limited supply of blackberries. But, don’t worry you can still get your berry fix (fresh and frozen) in the Market.

U-Pick Flower Garden

Besides picking up some berries and veggies, you can also pick your own bouquet of flowers, for $10. Krause Berry Farm and Estate Winery will provide you with scissors and vase.

Farm Fresh Produce

Currently, you can find fresh sweet corn and cauliflower, picked right from the Krause farm, and an assortment of local produce in the Market.

Family Fun Field

Your kids will have a great time jumping on the jump pads, having a try at milking a cow (pretend cow), and playing other berry fun games. Paid admission is required to enter the Family Fun Field.

Corn Pizza

Never in a million years did I think of trying corn pizza, but I did, and it was DELICIOUS. The famous corn pizza can be purchased at the Porch Restaurant and in the Bakery. There really is something for everyone at The Porch. From sweet ( ice cream, smoothies, parfaits, and more) to savoury (corn pizza) and delicious french fries. If you visit Krause Berry Farms and Estate Winery, you must try the corn pizza!

Fresh Waffles

During the summer, hot fresh berry waffles are available from 8:30am – 3:00pm every day in the KB Corral.

Bakery

It was really hard not to get one of everything in the Bakery. As soon as you set foot inside, you don’t know where to turn, as their are sweets everywhere. From their homemade fudge, an array of baked goodies, like breads, buns,  cookies, shortcakes and their mouth-watering berry pies. The Bakery does have Gluten-Free options, but are not a CERTIFIED gluten-free kitchen. Which means that there can be traces of gluten in your Gluten-Free goodies.

We picked up one of these delicious berry pies and a “personal berry pie” for the drive home.

Market

The Market is beautiful, really. You can find fresh (and frozen) fruits and veggies, homemade old fashioned ice cream, an assortment of homemade fudge, hand selected country themed gifts, decor items, and their own line of jams, jellies, preserves.

Estate Winery

Saddle Up for a taste of Krause Berry Farms and Estate Winery award winning berry wines. Gabriel did the wine tasting for $5, which included five tastes. You can also have lunch, or a private wine tasting tour in their winery production room, which includes one cheese board.

Krause Berry Farms and Estate Winery is a great place to visit and create memories with friends and family. We are so happy that we decided to visit this Summer for the first time, and look forward to our next visit. Of our top 10 activities to do at Krause Berry Farms and Estate Winery that we listed, which ones would you have to try?
