Top 10 Kid Shows in Spanish on Netflix Canada

There is one rule in our home and that is that when we are home, we only speak in Spanish. For Gabriel and I it is super important that our children speak Spanish because their roots are in Mexico and Honduras. I’m going to say that about 95% of our extended families live in either Honduras and Mexico and about 80% of them do not speak English. We want them to be able to communicate with family when we visit and to feel connected to their family and culture. Besides only speaking Spanish at home, we reinforce the language with audio via songs and visuals. They primarily listen to Spanish music, with the exception of our favourite English language kids musicians: Jessie Farrell, Bobs&Lolo and Will’s Jams. The majority of age appropriate shows that we watch in our home are in Spanish too (only True and Paw Patrol aren’t in Spanish, UGH). Anyways, I am grateful that there is atleast a handful of shows and movies that are available in Spanish audio on Netflix Canada. I wish it was more, like Netflix USA.

Anyways, some of our favourite kids shows that have Spanish audio available on Netflix Canada are:

1.Puffin Rock

This is probably my favourite show that is available in Spanish. It’s about a little Puffin names Oona, and her baby brother Baba and their friends who share amazing adventures in Puffin Rock where they learn about natures, friendship and family. It is SUUUUUUUPER cute.

2. El Autobús Mágico Vuelve A Despegar

I watched The Magic School Bus with my siblings growing up, and am happy to see a new reboot, called The Magic School Bus Rides Again. This time, it’s Mrs.Frizzles younger sister who takes the lead and guides the class on exciting adventures through science. Obviously, the animation is better than the old school series, and there are some familiar names too!

3. Hello, Ninja

This series is new to me, and I absolutely love it! It’s about BFFs Wesley and Georgie and their silly cat sidekick Pretzel who transform into ninjas and enter a magic world, where they solve problems and save the day. It’s super cute and there are some great lessons in each episode. Plus, the grandma transforms into a wise dragon. And it’s a show that doesn’t annoy me or teach my kids to do annoying things.

4. Pocoyo

A classic. Super cute, colourful and playful. I love that there is barely any talking, just the narrator.

5. Super Monstros

We recently got into Super Monstros. The kids of famous monsters come together at a special preschool. As a group, they must train the skills they inherited from their parents and have them good-to-go for kindergarten.

6. Los Detetctives de la Casa de Arbol

This show is about Toby, and his sister Teri. Two cute bears who follow clues to solve mysteries alongside their friends.

7. YooHoo Al Rescate

YooHoo and his friends travel around the world to help animals in need.

8. Molang

So technically, this show isn’t in Spanish because they actually don’t talk. They just make cute sounds LOL. Anyways, I had to add it on our list because it is one of our favourite shows! It’s about a charming bunny (Molang) and it’s best friend, a tiny chick (Piu Piu), who live together and go on many fun adventures together.

9. Luna Petunia

My kids love this one because of the name, clearly. The adventures of a little girl named Luna Petunia who learns that she can do anything.

10. Si Yo Fuera Un Animal

This is the only show on our list that is NOT animated. It’s narrated by Emma, and her brother Tim. They observe different animals as they make their way through various life milestones, from birth to adulthood. It’s super cute.

Honourable mentions:

Octonauts first season is in Spanish, then for some reason the rest are NOT I know there are other shows available in Spanish on Netflix Canada, but these are the ones that I actually enjoy watching with my kids. What are some of your family favourites on Netflix Canada?

I Still Believe Movie Review

It isn’t often that Gabriel and I are able to schedule a date night out, so when we were recently invited to pre-screen the faith based movie I Still Believe, from the comfort of our own home, we couldn’t say no! That evening he put all 3 kids to sleep early, while I prepped a delicious platter of snacks and some tea. We really didn’t know what to expect, except that it was going to be a love story (from watching the trailer), and we just assumed there would be some tears because, well, hello…don’t all love stories have some of those? Hahaha. Anyways, check out the official movie description below:

I really enjoyed watching I Still Believe because it’s actually based on a true story! Before watching this movie, I actually had no idea who Jeremy Camp was, and now I can say that I’m currently obsessed with his chart topping faith based songs. I also LOVE a good love story, and this one is really special because we weren’t only shown ONE love story, but TWO. Yeah, you read that right; while observing Jeremy and Melissa’s love for each other, we also witness GOD’s love. I Still Believe reminds us:

That it’s okay and perfectly normal to ask “WHY.”
That there are times when our faith and love will be tested (with others and with Him),
And that in the midst of it all, God is still good.
It shows us that God has a perfect purpose and plan for every single person, even when we can’t see it in the moment.

I think His timing is perfect, I’m so thankful that I got to watch this movie; especially during this special season of Lent. I Still Believe totally made me cry on more than one occasion; so I’d recommend having some tissues handy.

Since having kids, Gabriel and I have become way more aware about germs and the need to sanitize things. Sanitizing anything at home can be very time consuming as more than often we have either steam or boil things and then let the items dry. So, when we had the opportunity to test out Coral UV All in One UV Sanitizer we were stoked because we knew this would be less time consuming and super effective compared to the ways we were currently sanitizing things in our home.

The Coral UV Sanitizer uses an ultraviolet C light that kills 99.9% of germs in as little as 10 minutes. It is easy to use, as all functions have a touch control with a time countdown display. One of my favourite features about the Coral UV is that it comes with a dry cycle, so there is no need to wipe dry after washing items and putting them into a cycle. The UV stays sealed inside Coral UV, and if the release button is pressed (opening the top), lights are off.

Eddie Bauer backpack diaper bag

There are so many style options when it comes to diaper bags and everyone has their preference. From traditional, clutch, messenger, backpack and even hybrids to name a few. Throughout my motherhood, I’ve actually used a couple different styles: messenger, hybrid, traditional and now a backpack. The Eddie Bauer backpack diaper bag is both stylish and functional! I really like the look of this diaper because it does not look like any of the other ones that I’ve had in the past. I’ve been using my two-tone diaper bag for about 7 months now and I’m really happy with it.

Compartments

The Places & Spaces Legend Backpack Diaper Bag by Eddie Bauer has ample storage; this keeps everything you need organized and easily accessible while on the move. It features a spacious main storage with two interior bottle pouches and a small zippered pouch. It also has a insulated zippered bottle pocket (keeps bottles warm) and a wipes storage pocket. My favourite feature may be the later because it provides easy access; saves me time from searching INSIDE of the bag since the pocket is right on the outside and just has a velcro flap to get to the wipes. The wipes holder that is provided, doesn’t seal tightly, so wipes do dry out. So I do recommend using your own.

There is also an exterior flap pouch that is a decent size. This is where I store my keys, reusable straws, stickers and other tiny kid trinkets/toys.

Insulation

The zippered insulated pocked is also on the exterior of the diaper backpack, providing easy access to bottles. The insulation keeps bottles warm. It can obviously by used for storing other things too.

Comfort

Eddie Bauer backpack diaper bag features a large top flap with magnetic closure, and a drawstring. It has adjustable padded shoulder straps, a top carry handle and stroller loops! I love stroller loops and think that all diaper bags should come with these nowadays because it is so convenient.

A diaper change pad is also included, like most diaper bags.

Protect your kid’s skin from the sun with Stonz

Whether we are spending the Summer in Vancouver or fleeing the Winter cold to a much hotter climate, we always make sure to take our Stonz wear with us. Because we want to protect our kid’s skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays whenever they are outdoors. Stonz is a local, Vancouver brand and their mission is simple: to make it easier for families to get outside, regardless of the weather.

We’ve been using Stonz sunwear for a couple seasons now and I really love the quality. The first thing I noticed is that the fabric is super stretchy, which is awesome because I know my kids will be comfortable. I love that the fabric also has UPF 50 protection built into it because this helps minimize the amount of sunscreen that I have to apply. The sun wear also has a reflective logo for increased visibility.

Stonz Sun Suit

One piece bathing suits have become my favourite for babies and toddlers for several reasons. First, they are so easy to put on and take off; especially the Stonz sun suit because it has a two-way zipper. Also, they cover the majority of the body from the sun. The Stonz sun suit specifically has suitneck-to-wrist-to-ankle coverage. And you don’t have to worry about over heating in the sun suit because it has a mesh strip down each side for breathability and comfort. And don’t worry about the zipper pinching or chafing skin because the sun suit also has a “zipper garage.”

Shirt & Skort

I also wanted to get a sun suit for Luna, but she was really excited when she was the skort. So we went for the 2 piece shirt and skort. Not only do I love the kid tops because they cover a lot of skin, but I love the fact that it is gender neutral. The Stonz kid top has a raised collar and the back of the shirt is cut longer for coverage of the lower back. It also has a silicone strip at bottom – makes top less likely to ride up.

The skort is cute and has built in gusseted shorts making it ideal for most sporting activities. And a flat waistband prevents bunching.

As mentioned earlier, all of Stonz sunwear has UPF 50 protection built into the fabric, has 4 way stretch, and a reflective logo for increased visibility. The more their sunwear covers their body, the better because that means more protection from the UV rays, and less applying of sunscreen!

Endless Exploration and Play with CAT Tough Rigs

One of the main streets in our neighbourhood has been undergoing some major construction (since February 2019), and my kids have been OBSESSED with watching all of the heavy machinery and equipment ever since. But, their absolute favourite thing to watch during the street improvements and sewer separation has been watching the construction vehicles in action!! During the Spring and Summer months we would sit and watch the big CAT vehicles do their thing for at least 30 minutes, but now that it’s getting nippy out (almost Winter) we watch for less! Anyways, both of my children love watching how the excavator, wheel loader and dump truck all work, so when we were gifted a CAT Tough Rigs, I knew they’d have so much fun.

The first thing my kids realized was that it was SO BIG! It stands at about 15 inches and can hold a HUGE load. They were super excited to load their CAT Tough Rigs with all sorts of things; from wooden bricks, stuffies, to leaves, chestnuts and rocks too. This toy is built to withstand the elements and is perfect for indoor or outdoor play.

The Vancouver Christmas Market is basically the un-official kickoff event for Christmas here in the City. This event gets everyone to shift gears and get into the Christmas spirit, as soon as they see the willkommen sign at Jack Poole Plaza.

At the Vancouver Christmas Market, you get to sip, savour and celebrate the Christmas season!

Now in it’s 10th season, the Vancouver Christmas Market boasts a variety of fun, festive activities, entertainment and of course food/drink. From the Walk-In Christmas Tree adorned with 36,000 twinkling lights, to taking a stroll down the newly extended Lovers Lane

Some of my favourites food vendors at this year’s 10th annual Vancouver Christmas Market are:

Taste the Wild– Their creamy wild mushroom soup is out of this world. This is the best creamy mushroom soup out there, for real, the best I ever had!
Das Gulasch Haus- Wholesome stew made with tenderly braised BC beef, potatoes, and the finest Hungarian paprika. Served in a breadbowl! Vegan option available.
Transylvanian Chimney Cakes- A classic.
Two Sweet Guys– Dutch Mini Pancakes. These were so cute and delicious. You can choose different toppings (coconut shreds, strawberries, nutella, m&ms, mini marshmallows, peanuts and some icing sugar to top it all off)! A hit with both kids and adults for sure.

5. Cheese Me Raclette– This was my first time trying the raclette, and I can now understand why it is a Vancouver Christmas Market favourite. I mean, who doesn’t love a big wad a melting cheese over some potatoes, and meat? With a side of pickles, and breas of course! Yummm.

Rockit Portable Baby Rocker Review

There’s a handful of baby products that I’ve used for the first time with my third, and I am honestly shocked as to why I waited so long. Seriously, I wonder if some of the products weren’t available 5 years ago? Or maybe I just didn’t hear about them. Either way, these products have definitely made my life a little easier in one way or another, which is awesome! One of these life changing products is the Rockit. The Rockit is a rocket shaped portable baby rocker for strollers.

One Giant Sleep for Babykind

With two older kids, baby #3 and I are always on the go. And he’s currently in a stage where he wakes up as soon as the stroller stops moving. So, that’s where the Rockit comes in, and keeps the stroller rocking while I’m playing with the kids or sitting down to eat/drink. It literally rocks the stroller, so you don’t have to! The Rockit is an award-winning baby essential, ready to safely soothe babies.

I really like that the Rockit is simple and straightforward to use. There are only two pieces to this must have accessory, the bracket and the Rockit. You simply attach the universal bracket to your stroller, and slip the Rockit into place. Then, you push the button and adjust the speed to gently rock your baby, just like you would.

Rockit fits all prams and strollers

The universal bracket fastens to any shape of tube. The Rockit works well on all types of strollers and even rocks doubles. It is compact and can be popped under the pram or in a changing bag when not in use.

I’ve used it on my City Select (as a single and double), Bily Compact, Britax B-Agile and another one of my strollers, that I forget the brand/style. Opps. Anyways, the universal bracket is easy to remove from one stroller to put onto another. But, you can purchase extra brackets from the website, for convenience.
