China Glaze: Sea Goddess Collection Spring 2014

China Glaze has a beautiful Spring 2014 collection called Sea Goddess, which consists of six sparkly, textured colours inspired by the Sea.  I received 3/6: Teal The Tide Turns, Wish On A Starfish and Tail Me Something. “Teal The Tide Turns” is a beautiful minty teal shade with tiny teal glitters. The formula is thick and sheer (one coat), I applied three coats of “Teal The Tide Turns” for a completely opaque look. Yes, I applied three coats, I know I say I don’t have patience when it comes to so many coats, but it helps that “Teal The Tide Turns” dries very quickly.ChinaGlazeSeaGoddessCollectionSpring14-wishonastarfishpinktexturednailpolishcanadaswatches“Wish On A Starfish” is a pretty light pink shade with a beautiful gold shimmer. It is also textured, feels “sandy” which ties in so well with the Sea theme of the collection. “Wish On A Starfish” goes on pretty sheer, two coats gives you some opacity. I applied three coats in the swatches above and it dries quickly.

There are tiny purple glitters in the formula, which make the purple colour a little deeper. “Tail Me Something” isn’t sheer, but I still applied two coats. “Tail Me Something” dries quickly too.
I really like that considering “Teal The Tide Turns, Wish On A Starfish and Tail Me Something”  have a sandy texture, they were fairly easy to remove. Do you have any polishes from this beautifully textured Spring 2014 collection? Which is your favorite from my swatches?

Influenster Canada: Maple VoxBox Review

Well I know the craze for beauty boxes has been alive and kickin for a while now…and although I do not subscribe to any of those I always thought it’d be fun to get one. So when Influenster sent me their first Canadian Vox Box, I was pretty excited since it’s a box full of surprises! ^.^ I was impressed, full sized products. Below are my thoughts on the products that were inside Influenster’s “Maple VoxBox.”

Skinny Cow Milk Chocolate Flavour Heavenly Crisp: 
I liked the Chocolate Flavour Heavenly Crsip, it was a tasty little chocolate wafer. It is light, airy and crisp.

Skinny Cow Milk Chocolate Dreamy Clusters:
These Dreamy Clusters remind me of Twix Chocolate, just “healthier.” The chocolate melts nicely. If I was into chocolate snacks, I’d probably pick them up.

NYC New York Color Big Bold Curl Mascara:
This mascara is awesome! It has an oversized curved brush that adds thickness to your lashes. I found that it gave my lashes a lot of volume and curled them. The formula is perfect, not too wet and not dry. It dried quickly, phew, because I don’t like mascara that when you blink after you apply it smudges!

NYC New York Color Big Bold Plumping Lip Gloss:
This lip gloss smells great and doesn’t taste like anything. I liked this gloss so much that I even had to buy one in red for my sister’s stocking (click here). The NYC Big Bold Plumping Lip Gloss makes your lips look fuller with a high gloss. It looks great on its own or onto of a lipstick. The applicator is BIG, probably the biggest applicator I’ve tried and I am pretty fond of it because it gives full and even coverage with just one stroke. It has a nice tingly/minty feeling, not over powering. It also made my teeth look a little whiter? I don’t know how, but it does.

Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-On Manicure:
I really like that there is no glue (no mess!!) involved with this revolutionary way of getting a perfect manicure! It’s a pretty easy process; I recommend first sizing the Broadway Nails to your own. Then you just peel a plastic off the back of the nail and press on. I love the concept, but the next day two nails fell off, so then I had to take it all off 🙁

Montagne Jeunesse Clay Spas:
I have been dying to try one of these at home clay spas for so long, but always seem to forget to pick one up, so you can imagine how I excited I was when I saw this in the box! I really love how easy and fast it is to put on, for some reason I thought it was going to be a lot more work than it was.  The clay spa felt so refreshing and relaxing on my skin that I even had a cat nap for 15 minutes, lol. The clay spa left my skin feeling smooth and very soft. I will definitely be picking some of these up now that I know they are so good! Perfect for a girls night that I am planning too!! Yay.

Ice Brakers DUO: 
As soon as I popped one Ice Braker DUO into my mouth, it came flying right back out…the flavours were too much; too sweet and way too artificial. I really didn’t like it at all and I wouldn’t recommend them. I gave my husband one and he wasn’t fond of them either, so we threw it in the garbage.

Natural Deodorant: Tom’s of Maine "Long Lasting" Fresh Apricot Review

I don’t wear deodorant everyday, seriously. I usually only wear it if…
1) I’m going to an event
2) It’s scorchin hot outside 
3) I will be running around

Hahaha sorry if that just grossed you out, but the truth is even if I sweat, it doesn’t smell (that much/bad)? Haahaha or that’s what I like to think! Anyways, as I mentioned before I am slowly transitioning into “greener”/healthier  products and one of the first things I bought a couple of months ago was a natural deodorant, Tom’s of Maine “Long Lasting” in the fresh apricot scent. 


I have been using Tom’s of Maine fresh apricot scent for about three months now and am very pleased with it. I apply it in the morning and by the end of the day I am still feeling fresh and smelling sweet; it really is a long lasting deodorant. The smell is just delicious, the fresh apricot scent reminds me of breezy summer nights. I have even got compliments about how good I smell, people asking me what aroma I am wearing, and they are shocked when I tell them it’s my Tom’s of Maine deodorant hahaha. 


Did I mention that it’s fragrance is natural? There is no artificial fragrance, it comes from plant oils. There is also no artificial preservatives and no animal ingredients or testing. Oh, and it is aluminum free!


I’ve even converted my mom into a Tom’s of Maine natural deodorant user because she loved the smell so much and it works great for her too. I recommend Tom’s of Maine deodorant, but please be advised that what works for me, may or may not work for you, our bodies are different 😉 But still, give it a shot and let me know how it goes.

China Glaze: Happy Holi-Glaze Collection (Winter 2013) – 3 pc Dash of Dazzle Set Swatches

I love wearing sparkly nails during the Winter Holidays, so I was stoked when I received the “Dash of Dazzle” set by China Glaze from NailPolishCanada. China Glaze has a special Holi-Glaze Collection for Winter 2013, in which there are a total of 12 colours.

This is with 1 coat, I actually just put on 2 more coats and the blue/silver colour is a lot more dense now, will upload a photo later. There are circle and rectangular sparkles in this polish. Looks great as a top coat too!

Lush Cosmetics: Hello Gorgeous Gift Set Review

I won this Hello Gorgeous Gift Set (retails for $39.95) from Lush Cosmetics at an event I attended a couple months ago and finally had some time to try it all out during the last few weeks. 

This was my first time trying Lush products, so I was pretty stoked. I had heard good things about Lush, they care about the environment, are against animal testing and use fresh ingredients amongst other things.


But I must admit, after reading the labels on the products I was a little disappointed. All of the products in the Hello Gorgeous Set have Fragrance, which we all know is “code” for “a whole bunch of chemicals.” You can refer to my post about what fragrance really means HERE. I also found sodium laureth sulphate, a few parabens, artificial dyes and a ton of synthetics…

So remember just because a brand looks and sounds GREEN, doesn’t mean they are!

What’s included in the Hello Gorgeous Gift Set?
Vanilla Dee-Lite 100g
It’s light, non greasy and smells great, like vanilla. I found that it absorbs well and leaves skin feeling smooth and soft.

Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub 100g
It has a fresh floral scent. It doesn’t lather very well. It exfoliates, removing dead skin and leaves it feeling soft and refreshed.

Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter 15g
It’s thick and smells like lemons. Like any other kind of butter, you don’t have to use a lot to get good coverage. It leaves skin feeling soft and moisturized. You can use it on any rough skin!

Gorgeous Facial Moisturizer 15g
It’s light and non-greasy. The scent of orange blossom is a little to strong for my taste. Skin felt smooth and soft after application and even looked a little brighter.

Sakura Bath Bomb 180g
I liked this product the best because it’s scent was very light and fresh, very relaxing. It reminds me of when I take my clothes out of the washer and it smells so fresh and clean hahaha. Like any other bath bomb, it fizzed! It left my skin moisturized. Visually, water does not change colour.

The Comforter Bubble Bar 100g
Its aroma is sweet and relaxing (black current). I used this 100g bubble bar for one bath, so it made a ton of bubbles that lasted a long time. My skin felt soft and moisturized. Visually, the bubble bar dyes the water a vibrant purple/pink. Once I got out of the tub I realized that not only did it dye my skin pink, but also my tub! Eek, too much artificial dye?!

I’ve been a fan of LOGONA Naturkosmetic since discovering the brand 7 months ago during the Latina Lifestyle Blogger Conference in LA. The only lip gloss I have in my makeup stash is LOGONA, in three tints: Red Berry, Light Brown and Terracotta. 


Yes, I’m serious, I only have THREE .34 oz tubes of lip gloss! Why? Because I can rest assured that they are free of synthetic preservatives, colors and fragrances, and, are BDIH certified. 

LOGONA’s Lip Glosses are sheer and can be worn alone or over a lipstick, which is one of my favorite perks about the product. The lip gloss provides great shine and lots of moisture to the lips leaving them feeling soft and healthy. I personally love that LOGONA’s Lip Glosses are not a sticky, making  them comfortable to wear. Also, their lip gloss is long lasting and doesn’t taste like anything (phew, because I don’t like it when my lip gloss/stick have a flavour/taste). LOGONA’s Lip Glosses are perfect for anyone who wants a fragrance free lip gloss!

#05 Light Brown: Is a beautiful light brown, leaning more towards a nude tint. I love the natural colour, looks great worn alone or on top of a lipstick. I personally like wearing it ontop of dark lips or matte lipsticks for that extra moisture.


#06 Terracotta: Is a nude tone with light shimmer. Looks great worn alone or on top of any coloured lipstick.

#01 Red Berry: Has a rich red tint. Like the rest of LOGONA’s lip glosses, it looks great worn alone or on top of lipstick.

ANNABELLE Paraben-Fragrance Free TwistUp Retractable Lipstick Crayon

I figured it’d be a good idea to do a review on a ANNABELLE‘s Paraben Free TwistUp Retractable Lipstick Crayon since I talked about Parabens aka “estrogen mimickers” a couple of days ago. 

ANNABELLE‘s TwistUp Lipstick Crayon is a retractable lipstick and lipliner in one, which I found to be very convenient because I can quickly outline and fill in my lips. The TwistUp Retractable Lipstick Crayons are very pigmented, creamy, lightweight and glossy. I found that the colours I have (Kinky Pink, Absolute and Mai Tai) do not bleed. They are enriched with nourishing and natural ingredients such as www.annabelle.ca

Escents Aromatherapy Handmade Soap Review

Escents Aromatherapy is a Vancouver based brand that is all about making you (body and mind) feel good naturally. At Escents you can find a variety of products ranging from bath & shower to body care, natural sleep aids to stress relief and a whole bunch more, just check out their website or store. All Escents products contain 100% pure essential oils and are NOT tested on animals. 



One of my favorite Escents products is the CALM handmade soap. It’s the perfect aroma to start or end my day, it just gets my head clear and body relaxed, very peaceful. I personally love that I can use this soap for my face or body because it is sooo gentle and soothing. Oh and it lathers GREAT, and leaves your skin feeling soft/smooth and smelling fresh.

Escents soaps are paraben free, have no mineral oil, no Sodium Laurel & Lareth Sulphates, no phosphates  are non-comedogenic.  A 140 g bar of soap retails at $4.95 CND. Nexxus Hydra-Light Product Line (Shampoo, Conditioner, Root Lift Mist and Leave-In Conditioning Foam) Review

Hydra-Light “Wightless Moisture” by Nexxus is “an advanced hair care system full of moisture, free of heaviness. Infused with lightweight, deep-sea minerals, Hydra-Light gives hair advanced hydration without weighing it down.” I’ve been using Hydra-Light product line for about a month and a half and have to say I am pleased with the results. Below is my review on the Hydra-Light Shampoo, Conditioner, Root Lift Mist and Leave-In Conditioning Foam.


Hydra-Light Shampoo:
The Nexxus Hydra-Light Shampoo cleans thoroughly, removing the grease without leaving my hair feeling dry, instead leaving it light, soft and moisturized. The Hydra-Light Shampoo is light weight and lathers really well, I use about the size of a quarter and it’s the perfect amount for my hair length/type. Hydra-Light Shampoo has left my hair feeling healthier (stronger and shinier). 

I am sensitive when it comes to fragrances and the scent of the Hydra-Light Shampoo is a little too strong for my preference. I also wish that this shampoo was SULFATE-FREE….

Hydra-Light Conditioner:
This conditioner is amazing. First thing you notice when you pop open the bottle is the light smell of coconuts. I use even a smaller amount of conditioner, since I just use it on the bottom half of my hair and it detangles perfectly. The Hydra-Light Conditioner rinses well, leaving my hair feeling clean, moisturized and manageable.

Hydra-Light Root Lift Mist:
Nexxus Hydra-Light Root Lift Mist is a lift and shine spray that targets roots to lift hair where oils usually weigh it down, for added fullness and body.

I personally prefer using the Hydra-Light Root Lift Mist instead of dry shampoos because it is a lot easier to use. Again, like the product line states, it is light weight! I’ve used the Hydra-Light Root Lift Mist on both damp and dry hair, and it works great in both circumstances. The scent is light and not over bearing. It does not leave any sort of stickiness. It leaves my hair with body and manageable volume.

Hydra-Light Leave-In Conditioning Foam: 
Hydra-Light Leave-In Conditioning Foam is a daily leave-in treatment that provides weightless nourishment to restore softness & shine. 

This product leaves your hair feeling SUPER moisturized. I also use the Hydra-Light Leave-In Conditioning Foam on either damp or dry hair, and it works great both ways. It leaves my hair feeling soft and frizz-free. The Hydra-Light Leave-In Conditioning Foam leaves my hair bouncy, soft and shiny. It does not leave any sort of stickiness!!

All in all, I have really enjoyed using Nexxus Hydra-Light product line. I have noticed a visible difference in my hair, it not only feels healthier/stronger, but looks it too! Have you tried any Nexxus products?
