Fable Naturals Review

Fable Naturals is a local Vancouver brand that produces healthy skin care products. Fable Naturals uses healthy, organic and Fairtrade ingredients so that you feel good about what you’re putting on your skin. Unique to Fable Naturals is that you can learn the story of the ingredients and the producers behind them.

We’ve tried a handful of Fable Natural products, and have fallen in love with their passion and quality. Some of our favourits are the Lemon + Lavender Sugar Scrub, Lemon + Lavender Body Balm and Lemon Coconut Lip Balm which we’ve decided to review below.

Zorah Pure Argan Beauty Review

Zorah biocosmétiques is a line of high quality cosmetic-care products designed, produced and distributed in Canada. Zorah products are made with organic, eco-friendly and fair-trade ingredients. Their products do not contain any animal products or mineral oils (ex.: petroleum) and are not tested on animals, YAY!

I absolutely adore the Zorah Pure Argan makeup products. I had the pleasure of trying out the Pure Argan BBB Cream in Pinky Beige, the Length & Care Mascara, Liquid Eyeliner, Lip Gloss in Léa and Ombré Eyeshadow. The main natural ingredient in all of these products, Argan oil, protects the skin, restores its’ natural barrier and neutralizes free radicals – making it the perfect ingredient for makeup!

My favourite product from the bunch is the BBB Cream in Pinky Beige. Slightly pigmented, the cream works to reduce redness (Because of its Argan oil base, wich is a powerful antioxidant), tighten pores and smooth the skin while protecting it from free radicals. It gives my skin a healthy glow and is great to use in lieu of liquid foundation for a more natural look.

The eyeshadow in Ombré is awesome. It’s beautiful, smoky colour goes on smooth – lasting all day and it also has some serious skin care benefits. The eyeshadow is a great alternative to most, as the Argan Oil works to support anti-aging, which most people tend to notice the most around the eyes!

The mascara is great because, unlike most mascaras that tend to damage the lashes, the Argan oil works to promote growth. So it’s a win/win! Not only will your lashes look great, they will benefit from wearing this mascara. What could be better!

The liquid eyeliner also has similar benefits and is long lasting. It’s very light weight and easy on the eyelids, which can be very sensitive.

As for the lip gloss, it helped my lips feel smooth and silky. I’m not usually a big fan of gloss (I usually go for matte lip sticks, which I would love to see in this line!) but as far as lip gloss goes – this one was great. It helped my lips stay moisturized in the summer heat while adding a pop of colour.

I usually feel a bit guilty wearing makeup – because I know that it can have some damaging effects on the skin (in comparison to going eau naturalé, with no makeup!), but this makeup line takes all that guilt away.I just love how these products work to support healthy skin. I can look my best and feel my best about it, guilt free!

Next came the Pure Harmony Mist – which is also rich with nutrients, awakening the skin and promoting regeneration. The mist was a nice touch to the step by step process.

After the mist, I applied the Pure Harmony Cream, adding even more nutrients and moisture to my skin without any irritation – a perfect ending to the five step process.

The collection also includes an SPF cream that I used the next morning under my makeup to protect my skin from sun damage, slowing down the aging process I just worked (not very hard and with enjoyment) to prevent.

L’Occitane: Collection de Grasse Neroli & Orchidée Review

One of L’OCCITANE’s newest collections is inspired by and named after the world perfume capital in the south of France, Grasse. La collection de Grasse includes beautiful fragrances that combine precious ingredients from lands near and far: Jasmine & Bergamote, Magnolia & Mure, Vanille & Narcisse and Thé Vert & Bigarade.

I received the Nerolie & Orchidee fragrance and Fragrance Beautifying Cream a couple of weeks ago and have been wearing it ever since. A sweet blend of fruity and floral are evident with just one spray of the Neroli & Orchidee fragrance. The fruity scent being the Neroli, which comes from the Neroli oil produced from the white blossom of the bitter orange tree of the Mediterranean. And the floral blend from the Orchid flower from Madagascar.

The Neroli & Orchidee fragrance has been created with top notes of orange and mandarin; middle notes are neroli, peach, fig, nectar and the base notes are orchid, musk and iris.

I like this fragrance for several reasons; the first being that it lasts a long time on your skin and the scent also evolves as time goes by. It’s soft, feminine and romantic. A perfect scent for everyday use. It’s aroma is subtle yet strong enough to make people wonder what scent you are wearing.

The Fragrance Beautifying Cream is a floral fragrance lotion that is meant to extend the trail of your perfume from La Collection de Grasse. It has universal floral notes that blend well with the eau de toilette.

The Fragrance Beautifying Cream has a smooth texture, that leaves your skin feeling moisturized and silky.

I usually apply the Fragrance Beautifying Cream on my neck and wrists before applying Neroli & Orchidee in those same spots. I have worn it on its own as well.

Sunscreen Safety & Ombrelle Review + Giveaway

It’s almost Summer time here in Vancouver, and that means the heat is coming! The beaches, parks and pools will be packed with people basking in the sun, and I bet that about half of them wont be wearing sunscreen, eek. Truly devastating because the sun has very harmful effects, like Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.

In order to reduce the risk of getting skin cancer you should:

Apply sunscreen regularly throughout the day.
Apply sunscreen on a cloudy/overcast day.
Cover up! Wear a hat, shirt and sunglasses.
Avoid sunburn!
Do not use a tanning bed or sunbathe.
Pick a sunscreen with strong UVA protection.
Make sure your sunscreen is not EXPIRED.

Tips for applying sunscreen:

Choose sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or higher, is water resistant, and provides broad-spectrum coverage (UVA & UVB).
Apply sunscreen 30 mins. before sun exposure.
Use enough sunscreen. 1 oz.
Apply sunscreen to all bare skin. Don’t forget your neck, face, ears, and tops of your feet. For your lips, apply a lip balm with a SPF of at least 15.
Reapply sunscreen: Every two hours, immediately after swimming or excessively sweating.

BELLABE Facial Hair Removal Review

DISCLAIMER: I received this product for my editorial consideration and I decided to review them, based on my own experience and opinions.

Bellabe (pronounced as Bella-Bee) is a beauty tool that removes unwanted facial hair from the roots easily and quickly. It is to be used only on the upper lip, chin and cheeks, NOT the eyebrows. The Bellabe removes unwanted facial hair by trapping unwanted hair in the coils and lifting them gently from the roots.

Using the Bellabe the first time stung a little, but I adjusted quickly after the first couple of turns. It’s like when you get waxed, you experience some initial sensitivity with the first pull, but you get used to it after the third. I’ve been using the Bellabe for a couple months now, and I have gotten used to it and barely feel anything. I like that I can control what hair I want removed, I use it specifically on my upper chin. I’ve noticed that some of the hair hasn’t grown back, which is great. The Bellabe hasn’t left any irritation on my sensitive skin. I like that I can use it as often as I like.

The Bellabe is easy to use in just two quick steps:

Bend the Bellabe spring downwards as shown in the picture and place against your face where facial hair is to be removed. Make sure the inverted U is constant.
Roll the handles inwards and outwards in a continuous motion. You will feel a plucking sensation as the hair is removed from the roots. Move Bellabe over the same area again and again, constantly turning the handles between your fingers until all hair is removed.

I have reviewed Logona Naturkosmetik before, read about their amazing lip gloss here.LOGONA Blush (Rose + Pink) .35oz: I love this blush duo, it is a very natural colour, that provides a fresh and warm look with just a couple of strokes. Since it is a duo, you can contour and highlight your features. Personally, I use the pink shade for afternoons and the rose shade for the evening. You can also try blending the shades.

The blush has a soft velvety and glides on effortlessly. The colours are long-lasting.

LOGONA Lipstick ( Wildberry #07) .14oz : The lipstick has a creamy texture that allows it to glide effortlessly around your lips. Since the lipstick is rich in natural oils and waxes, it nourishes your lips and keeps them moist and healthy looking. The colours are natural and highly pigmented. The wildberry lipstick has a little bit of shimmer provided from stone, which I like.

LOGONA Eyeshadow Trio (Smokey #01) .14oz : The Eyeshadow Trio is a beautiful color combination, blue hues. It is perfect for an every day or evening look. You can either wear them separately or together to make the perfect smokey eye. The powder is velvety, applies easily, and doesn’t feel dry. It has great pigmentation and is enriched with sunflower oil and vitamin E. It also doesn’t crease.

LOGONA Mascara Volume (Black #02) .27oz: This mascara is great for providing your lashes with a beautiful natural look. Logona mascara enhances your lashes with rich color, volume, and definition (length and thickness). This mascara doesn’t dry out your lashes, as it has natural ingredients that nourish and moisturize them. It is very easy to remove with warm water.

LOGONA Double Eyeliner (Forest #02): This is a duo wood pencil. The colours are very rich, great pigmentation for contrasting. I usually use the lighter colour in the corner of my eyes, and use the green top lash-line. Their smooth (not too dry and not too creamy) texture allows them to easily glide across your eyelids. I like this eyeliner because it doesn’t smudge or melt in warmer temperatures, perfect for when you are travelling to hot places or for use during the Summer.In addition to natural oils and waxes, they contain nurturing jojoba and natural Vitamin E.

LOGONA Age Protection Hydro-Lipid Balance: This has become one of my favorite beauty products. I apply it in the morning and night. After using it for a couple months, I can visibly notice the difference in my skin, it feels more moisturized, supple, soft and fresh. It definitely revitalizes your skin, combating wrinkles and leaving your skin not only looking, but feeling soft, fresh and supple.

Oats, The Beauty of Nature

Hispanic women have always trusted the advice they’ve received from their mothers and grandmothers, especially as it relates to beauty. Many of their tips and beauty secrets usually included the use of ingredients found in nature.
