I haven’t worn any of my toddlers for a while now because I’ve been BABY wearing 24/7 for the last trimester basically! Yup, we expanded our family by 1 in June 🙂 During this “fourth” trimester baby and I have been basically glued to the hip. He wants to be on me, all day, everyday; which is understandable, I mean he did just spend 9 months growing INside of me. But with two older kids, I can’t necessarily just cuddle and hold him 24/7 because mama needs to get stuff done with the big kids too. And that’s where baby carriers save me a handful of times a day. The newest carrier added to my stash a couple months ago was the Venture Baby Carrier by We Made Me.
Venture Baby Carrier
The Venture is inspired by the Meh-Dai style carriers. The difference between the two is that unlike the Meh-Dais which are hand tied at the waist, the Venture uses buckles. This makes it easier (quicker) to use than a Meh-Dai.
Use
The Venture is perfect for newborns up to 2 years (8- 35 pounds). There is an infant insert included, to accommodate newborns/infant.
I started using it when my little one was about a little over a month old, and have been using it consistently since then. The Venture is a simple ergonomic back & front baby carrier. Yes, you can only wear your baby two ways with the Venture; on your front (facing you) or on your back (facing you, obvi).
It features softly padded wide shoulder straps and 2 sides adjustment buckles for better comfort and adjustability. I really like the location of the 2 sides adjustment buckles because it makes adjusting so much easier. I just have to raise my hands a little bit forward, and not back, as I do awkwardly with some other carriers. Does that make sense? If you see the photo below, you can see the 2 side adjustment right by babies hand.
The Venture also has a hood and it is adjustable (2 long straps with snaps), providing great head support. With a bucket-shape seat and contoured back panel, makes a perfectly ergonomic seating position for the baby.
Fabric
Our specific Venture is the mint charcoal zigzag, but it is available in three other prints/colours.
The fabric is light weight, firm with minimal stretch. I wore this carrier during the hot summer months and was ok. We didn’t overheat, but did break a sweat a couple times when I was out for long walks, not uncomfortable sweat tho. There are definitely other SSC’s that are warmer and not comfy in the heat. The Venture passes tho.
As mentioned above, the Venture has softly padded wide shoulder straps and padded leg openings.
Sizing
The Venture is available in two sizes. Venture is 0-24 month/ 8- 35 pounds and the Venture+ which is 18-36 months/24-55 pounds.
Storage
Because the fabric is so light weight, yet firm, it actually folds up quite nicely and doesn’t take up much storage space. Score!
Care
Machine wash friendly and hang to dry.
I’ve been getting a lot of use out of my Venture Baby Carrier because it is so light weight, easy to use and comfortable. We Made Me’s Venture baby carrier is one of the most affordable ergonomic carriers on the market, so make sure to check’em out here.
