Kegels, Pelvic Floor and Bladder Control; Elvie Trainer

Kegels, kegels, kegels. If you’re a woman, you’ve definitely heard of kegels and how important it is for you to do them for a stronger pelvic floor to better your sex life, post-natal recovery and bladder control. Before having kids I had heard about kegels, but never really bothered jumping into action. And I’m going to be honest, even after having kids I’ve done the minimal amount, that is until I got introduced to the Elvie Trainer; an award-winning Kegel trainer for a stronger pelvic floor.

I’ve talked about incontinence before and how awkard and embarassing it can be when you involuntarily have a bladder leak while exercising, laughing, sneezing or coughing. It seems as though the majority of women have experiences pelvic floor problems, including incontinence, as it affects 1 in 3 women and almost 70 percent of new moms.

What is the pelvic floor?

The pelvic floor is a powerful set of muscels that sits like a hammock between the tailbone and pubic bone. When healthy and toned they prepare your body for pregnancy, childbirth, high-impact sport and ageing.

I don’t remember where I heard it, so don’t quote me or anything, but apparently half of the women who do kegels are probably doing them wrong. Crazy, right. Kegels can be tricky to do because you can’t see the muscles you are working out. So in turn, you don’t know if you are doing them correctly.

And that’s the awesome thing about the Elvie Trainer! It helps you strengthen muscles you can’t see (but you can on your app, more on that below)! It’s super easy and straight forward to use. Before using for the first time, you have to charge it. After this, I washed with my favourite natural un-scented soap, let dry and then insert inside (leave the tail remaining outside).

Once it’s inside, simply connect to the Elvie Trainer app that will guide you through fun, five minute workouts. And this same app will track your progress. I personally love that there are visuals to help you understand exactly how your pelvic floor is working out. For example, your progress is tracked IN REAL TIME (connect via bluetooth). When you squeeze your pelvic floor muscles, a gem on the app rises depending on the strength of the contraction. So you can develop coordination, and see exactly how strong your kegel (squeeze) was depending on how far the gem lifts.Pelvic-Floor-Trainer-Elvie-Control-Kegels

And that’s not the only amazing technology that is paired with the Elvie Trainer; it can actually detect if you are doing your kegels incorrectly, helping you improve your technique. Amazing, right? After using my Elvie Trainer for a couple of months, I have definitely noticed a difference; not only is my pelvic floor stronger, but I am much more confident when sneezing, seriously. I don’t have to cross my legs when I sneeze anymore because I haven’t had any little bladder leaks. I can’t stress how amazing this product is for women; confidence, stamina, and strength.

The Elvie Trainer strengthens your pelvic floor muscles by using 6 uniquely designed exercises, that are fun and only take 5 minutes. That’s what also really intrigued me and got me hooked, that it only takes 5 minutes a day to give your pelvic floor a full workout. I usually do it after breakfast, when the kids are settled into their activity for the morning.

It’s 100% waterproof and made with the highest quality medical grade silicone. It is soft to the touch, and comfortable once inserted. If you use a menstrual cup or tampons, inserting the Elvie Trainer is just as quick and easy. I wash mine after each use with a natural un-scented soap. Comes in a carry case that doubles as a wireless charger. I used 4x a week for a month, for 5 minutes each use and it lasted about a month before I had to charge again. Carry case is charged via usb power supply.

As I mentioned earlier in this post, I’ve used the Elvie Trainer for a couple months and have had great success with my kegels. My pelvic floor is much stronger than it was before and I highly recommend this to every woman; especially new moms.  The benefits are SO WORTH IT. I have better bladder control, which has made me feel so much more confident while dancing,  jumping on trampolines with my kids, and even laughing. I can even stop my pee on command again, hahaha, seriously, like the pre-birth days. Woot woot.

So, what are you waiting for? Learn how to do kegels correctly, strengthen your pelvic floor and gain the control of your bladder again with the Elvie Trainer. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention that these fun, five minute workouts will also help with faster postnatal recovery and enhanced intimacy. Oh yes.
